The
story about the Henna
packaging - In India,
Vishwamitra is well known as a
king that ultimately became a
great sage through many years
of penance and meditation.
Surya's label depicts the
beautiful Manika in the arms
of Vishwamitra. According to
legend, the god Indra, feeling
threatened by Vishwamitra's
spiritual zeal and
concentration, decided to
tempt Vishwamitra so he would
ultimately forget about his
spiritual practice. He sent
Vishwametra a series of tests:
threatening weather, tempting
women and so on and so forth.
Vishwametra never opened his
eyes from meditation. Indra
then sent Manika, a beautiful
dancer of paradise who
descended from heaven. Manika
was not only beautiful but
wise and spiritually advanced.
Vishwametra did open his eyes
when he beheld Manika, but not
to the end that Indra had
hoped. The two beheld one
another in love, were married
and continued their spiritual
path in union. They bore a
daughter and built together an
empire. Vishwametra's story is
about strength and endurance
and devotion.

Surya - Actions that
benefit society
In keeping
with its mission, Surya takes seriously its
intent to help transform not only the beauty
industry but also society as a whole by
participating in projects that address social
justice plus environmental and cultural
responsibility. Because of this, the
Surya Solidarist project was
born from the will of the company,
administrators and employees wanting to
contribute to the beauty, health and
happiness of people. The company has
established partnerships with NGOs,
cooperatives, companies and institutions
through courses administered by our
technicians and other activities.
- Colouration
Awareness Program: Surya Solidarist has
developed a program with the main goal of
exposing the health risks associated with the
indiscriminated use of chemicals in
cosmetics, offering as a safe alternative the
use of products made with herbs and plants.
This program was launched on February 10th,
with a class formed by 12 students from the
Centre of Promotion and Attention to Health
from the Einstein Program in the Paraisopolis
Community (PECP) - San Paolo -
Brazil.
- Mateiro
School Project: Surya supports the
Mateiro School Project, The Mateiro School is
an important first step in protecting our
natural resources. Graduates of the School of
Mateiro will be able to find work in
scientific research, as qualified ecological
guides or as harvestors specializing in
minimal human impact on the forest. It take
place at Manaus / Amazônia
- Human
Education Project: to make children and
youth aware of the importance of the
protection of the animals
- Sponsorship
to the Project Writes Brazilian Beauty:
to increase the self esteem and self
knowledge of the youth and the communities of
São Paulo. Performance of Surya in the
Day of the Beauty at several communities
around São Paulo applying Natural
Tattoo and coloration.
- Surya
project for the Third Age: increase the
self esteem through the acceptance of natural
coloration in residents of houses for old
people.
- Uma
Sharma Project: Social Cultural Project
of women valorization: to spread women
values, and the changes in their behavior in
our society through the peace interpreted by
the Indian appraised dancer, Uma Sharma.

participating companies in this campaign
comply with producing security cosmetics for
customers - that is, which do not contain
chemical ingredients harmful to health. Surya
is the only Brasilian company to participate
in this campaign, which establishes criteria
for companies to produce cosmetics "free of
chemical substances that may surely cause
cancer, mutations or inborn
defects".
